This ain’t no Cinderella story…Families are a construct, created by God, that are supposed to provide its members with three basic things love, happiness, and security. It is not hard to believe that if our basic needs are met then often times, we will grow into well-rounded happy individuals who will love ourselves and those around us. But often times, there is a forfeiture in our roles and responsibilities to one another that causes those needs to go unfulfilled. As a result, love is replaced with pain, happiness with sadness, and security with fear.

Peaches knows that world all too well. Born to two of the most loving parents in the world, she couldn’t escape the clutches of their evil offspring. Twins, Regan and Raven, and Ivy the middle child, were her older sisters – determined from the very beginning, to erase her existence. In spite of all of their attempts, she breaks the chains to start life anew only to find that no matter how hard she tries, they will never let her go. In this story, we learn that “blood” is not the only thing that is holding this family together.

I just read, "Peaches", by Diane Martin. First, let me say that I've enjoyed all of the books written by this author. I am not a person who enjoys reading novels. I am a very technical person who enjoys books that educate and motivate.
But I love to support Black authors and Black businesses and decided to give this author a chance. Now, I have to admit, when I purchased her first book, I let it sit for a while because I was in school and my "load" was heavy. It was during a break, that I finally sat down and read, "Never What it Seems". Since then, I've never looked back. Now, back to "Peaches." They say that a book should engage its readers, but, and this applies to all of her other books, you always get more than what's expected. I experienced every emotion. I was so overwhelmed that for a moment, I had to put the book down, but because I was so consumed with what was going to happen next, I couldn't put it down. I have never read a 464 page book in two days, but I did and when I was done, I was empty. I'd experienced every emotion to the point where there was nothing left. To think that a book could have that type of impact on you. Her books take you out of the realm of reality and forces you into a world that you couldn't imagine ever existed. It is in those pages, that you become loss never to be found again until you're sure that you've come to the end. I wish that I could explain it. Diane Martin is a beast. She is an excellent writer and probably the most unappreciated author of this century. I hope that, one day, one of her novels will be pick-up and turned into a movie. This is the stuff that great movies are made of because it is life, through the eyes of Diane Martin."Diane Martin, Author

Peaches Always Kiss Your Baby Goodnight eBook Diane Martin Reviews

The ending blew me away!!! Diane was on the mark saying "this aint no Cinderella story. She really went into the depths of darkness that happen within families. This book should definitely hit the big screen; it has all of the elements to be a success in that arena.
This book had me in the zone while experiencing different emotions. I didn't put the book down until I was finish reading the book with the exception of coming up for air. As I continue turning the pages, I grasped some lessons that took me back to my childhood and had me pondering on what transpired in Peaches' life. Reading this book was better than watch a lifetime movie. I'm looking forward to seeing what the author, Mrs. Diane Martin, cooks up next ...
Got the book in the mail the day I was leaving for a business trip and was happy to have something other than tabloids to read on the plane. I was done by the next morning! This book is a ball of suspense, thrilling dysfunction! The other passengers on the plane shot nervous glances as I laughed or gasped out loud! Cinderella's stepsisters can't hold a candle to these girls!
Thank you Diane Martin for another great book!!! This book was captivating, compelling and riveting. I was not able to put it down. The range emotions I experienced while empathizing with the main character, Peaches, kept me on the edge not wanting to put the book down until it was finished. It dealt with some real dark family issues. This was an awesome story by an awesome author, and I can’t wait until her next book!!
If you've ever imagined sibling rivalry to be just a passing phase, you've never met twin sisters, Regan and Raven. If you've convinced yourself that middle-child syndrome is only a myth, and the child in the middle wouldn't likely end up embittered and with life altering insecurities, Ivy will surely make you think - again, again, and again. And then there is baby sister, Peaches, who shows her sisters and everyone else who abuses her that Grace can be far more than just amazing...

"Peaches" - A thought-provoking novel that will leave you stunned. Author, Diane Martin, is a fine storyteller who skillfully guides the reader into a family of disfunction and into an otherwise normal mind gone crazy. The need to get revenge is a beast. -Donna Patton
The story of Peaches is a window into the world of life with no foundation of moral and spiritual good. While dysfunction is a word many people use to describe individual and corporate faults that lead to bad outcomes, it is a word that barely touches the extent of evil present in the lives and culture present in this novel’s setting. If it’s that evil, why read it at all?
I see two reasons to read this book. First, an awareness of what’s really happening in our American culture is advantageous if we are to make positive impact—that is, bringing light into dark places through compassionate action—so instead of sticking our heads in the sand, we need to face the realities of everyday life for a significant number of people. Second, on a personal level (and hopefully for you too), this book opened my eyes to the cycle, or rut, that families perpetuate through choosing to live in denial of evil and in open acceptance of depravity. A vivid picture of the reality of evil in everyday life caused me to examine my Christian faith on a deeper level and pray for strength and grace to be a better bearer of light and love in this world.
The book is full of extremely bad (some may say offensive) language and description of evil actions. That’s why it’s called “Adult Fiction”. I have given 4 instead of 5 stars simply because I cannot say I "love" this book; however, I consider it a powerful force for thought and awareness in my life! It can be hard to keep reading because it is heartbreaking. But remember that there is a bigger picture here than just the recounting of events. It’s the story of an entire life from infancy to adulthood of a person who must come to grips with her “lot in life”. You will find yourself hoping and praying for her along the way. I won’t give away the ending, but I will say that amidst evil, the light of hope pierces through.
